$50(no S/H) Amarone della Valpolicella is one of the most regulated wines in the world. Laws and regulations limit the yield sizes and production areas of the grapes in an effort to control and maintain a high level of quality. However, the Arduini family knows that it takes more than rules and regulations to make a world class Amarone. Blessed with a great growing season in 2003, current winemaker Luciano Arduini harvested some of the ripest grapes his family estate has ever seen. These healthy grapes were then 'racked' and dried out before the luscious nectar was pressed in Arduini's new state-of-the-art winery. The result is a brick-red color with intense perfume notes of dried cherry and bramble. A healthy, balanced body and long, soft finish mask the wines 15.4% alcohol content while allowing this wine to be a perfect match to roasted game meats and matured, strong cheeses. The winery advises that you open the bottle one hour before enjoying.
