(Free S/H $24/btl)This Merlot is almost Pomerol in style, with a very earthy nose intermixed with ripe raspberry aromas. The palate is
full and soft, with a fine structure and backbone, finishing in a rolling red fruit and vanilla robe. Excellent with pasta
and meat sauces, roasted meats or a hearty beef stew. Most of the grapes for the Borego Canyon Merlot came from the Paso Robles region, which is known to produce
big, full bodied red wines with intense flavor. However, some of these wines lack in acidity which can make them a
bit 'fleshy' or unfocused. Borego Canyon, under the direction of winemaker Matt Praetzle, has solved this problem
by blending fruit from Monterey, where the cooler climate produces more balance grapes and which helped give
the Borego Canyon more structure.
