(Free S/H $65/btl)Domaine of the Bee is a tiny operation founded by Justin Howard-Sneyd MW and his wife Amanda, along with great friend Philippe Sacerdot with the aim of making a top quality red wine from the ancient vineyards of the Roussillon, near Maury. The wine is made by Richard Case at Domaine de la Pertuisane, and the annual production should vary between 3,000 and 5,000 bottles a year, from 4 hectares of old vine (50 – 80 YO) Grenache and Carignan. At the moment, it is more of a learning journey than a business.
2008 is a much more 'serious' wine than 2007, with a longer potential for ageing. It is less immediately fruity, but with a great deal of spice and complexity on the nose, and a huge concentration and length. This is more akin to Chateauneuf-du-Pape then ever, and will appeal to lovers of BIG REDS.
Label shown here is not the 08 vintage. The vintage being sold is indeed the 2008. NOT sold on their website.
