$39(free s/h) Late Bottled Vintage is a blend of full, rich and fruity wines from 2000 which have been specially chosen for 6 years of aging in oak casks. The Barao de Vilar LBV was foot trodden in granite "lagares" and later stored in large oak vats called "tonels." The special characteristics of the LBV are its richness, depth of flavor and attractive bouquet of honey and vanilla. In order to retain as much character and depth as possible, it has been bottled in the same ways as a vintage Port without cold-stabilization, as a result there may be some sediment but this is a sign of a good quality wine. Ready to drink now, this Port will also develop and deepen its characteristics in the bottle and will therefore require decanting later on.
