(free S/H 65/btl)We had the Cuvee Suzanne Chaudron previously in 2002 vintage, and the results are very similar. Pommard is known for its more muscular Pinots featuring a darker color. This wine fits the bill. Matured in French Oak barrique for 12 months, a hint of toast and vanilla combine with black currant to create a deep nose. The palate is a bit more round than the Volnay, but still has plenty of tannin to persuade you to lay this wine down for a few months. Pair it with roasted red meats or game birds. This wine will have a similar life arc to the Volnay, drinking beautifully in 5 years but still enjoyable up to 10.
