This 2001 Riesling Auslese was harvested during a growing season that was almost completely lost to rain. Just when all hope was lost, the rain lifted and producers were granted uninterrupted sunshine until November. The Merler Stefansberg Auslese exhibits a deep mineral nose with a fine slate quality while the palate is full of tantalizing fruit and a wonderful attack full of fine acidity. This wine has already started to age gracefully and will enjoy at least another 5 years of peak performance.
