$38(free s/h) Saint Joseph is a commune in the North Rhone Valley. Here on the granite slopes of the river bank these gnarled Syrah vines produce profoundly muscular wines with an inky black color. The Pichon Saint Joseph is a fine example of this district as it contains a wild berry and vanilla nose with gobs of black fruit and cassis on the palate with a spicy oak finish - just a complete beast of a wine.
