Grappa is unique to Italy, although distilleries from Australia to California are trying their hand at it, and was the cure-all for the farmers who first produced it. Made from pomace, (the grape elements leftover from wine production) genuine Grappa is made in the Veneto region, where Zanin is located. It was first produced in the town of Bassano del Grappa, from where it gets its name, and this potent, dry elixir acheives intoxicating, subdued flavors of the grapes which were used to make it.
