$260 TERRESTRE...the soil, terroir, "belonging to the Earth". This is the motif with which Tenuta Torciano has dedicated this new line of fine wines, highlighting the ancient and noble soils of the Tuscan vineyards. 2001 was a superb vintage in the region, with Robert Parker scoring it 94, while the Wine Spectator gave it 96, saying it was the best since the benchmark 1997 vintage! For Tuscany this is a unique blend of varietals, using 25% each of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Shiraz. A vibrant cuvee with loads of fruit exhibiting interesting aromas and flavors. 4 years in a mixture of oak barrels (with medium toast) and small new barriques of oak, cherry, and olive wood. All wines rest for 1 year in the bottle to further refine their development. Thanks to its structure, body, and complex flavor everybody can enjoy the 2001 Terrestre Carmignano not only with food, but also and above all to find relaxation in your meditation time.
