Over the last three years, winemaker Pierluigi Giachi has taken us on a tour of some of Tuscany’s most famous wine regions with his Terrestre collections. This bold venture began in 2004 and was undertaken to capture the essence of each Tuscan regions; their unique soils, climate, traditions and character. The unique goal was to find the very best grapes and to make the very best wine - period. The results were ‘Super Tuscans’ that reached the apogee of quality…from Chianti, Carmignano, and Montalcino. Now offered to you in this limited case production is a piece of Tenuta Torciano’s history with an exclusive Archive bottle of each edition’s Terrestre wines. Each of these wines is a treasure in itself, together they form a formidable library of the great names of Tuscan winemaking. First Release: 2004 Edition – Greve in Chianti IGT
Vintage: 2000
Grape Varieties: 50% Sangiovese and 50% Cabernet Sauvignon
Oak Aging: 3 years in large oak barrel, with additional small oak blending and period of refinement in bottle.
Tasting Notes: A deep, dark purple color with aromas of black fruit and tantalizing flavors of ripe cassis, black cherries embraced by warm, fragrant oak.
Second Release: 2005 Edition –Montalcino IGT
Vintage: 1999
Grape Varieties: 100% Sangiovese Grosso
Oak Aging: 2 years in large oak barrel, 1 year in small oak barriques, 1 year in small chestnut barrique, 1 year in cherry barrique, 2 years in olivewood with further development in bottle before release.
Tasting Notes: Pure ecstasy with a fully developed nose of vanilla, prunes and cherry. These aromas are enhanced by a full-bodied, elegant palate of rich Sangiovese with a finish that lasts over a minute.
Third Release: 2006 Edition –Carmignano IGT
Vintage: 2001
Grape Varieties: 25% each of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Shiraz.
Oak Aging: 4 years in mix of oak barrels with medium toast, and small cherry and olive wood barrels with 1 year in bottle.
Tasting Notes: This unique Tuscan blend of 25% each of Sangiovese, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Shiraz makes this a highly prized “supertuscan.” A vibrant cuvée with loads of fruit exhibiting rich blackberry, dark cherry and smoky vanilla aromas and flavors.
